Pre-Variscan evolution of selected fragments of peri-Gondwana: Avalonian-Cadomian basement of the Central European Variscides
In the Ediacaran (650-540 Ma), the Avalonian-Cadomian orogeny took place along the Gondwana continental margin to which magmatic arcs were accreted and jointly formed what is known as peri-Gondwana. In the Phanerozoic, fragments of peri-Gondwana became rifted and drifted away. The project aim is to identify and reconstruct the original position of these fragments that eventually collided with Baltica.
