Gamma Spectrometer

The low-background gamma spectrometer with Broad Energy Germanium Detector (BEGe-5030) Canberra is using for radionuclides measurements (e.g., 241Am, 137Cs, 226Ra, 210Pb) in environmental samples. The Genie 2000 Basic Spectroscopy Software is used for data acquisition and analysis of gamma spectrometry data. The measurement time is adapted to the activity of the radionuclides and type of samples. The measurements of 137Cs and 226Ra, 210Pb are used for dating lake sediments. Analyses of 137Cs are also used for monitoring of radioisotopes distribution originated from the Chernobyl fallout in aquatic ecosystems.
