We kindly invite to watch the movie presenting a short-cut of our geological field trip to Calabria and Sicily to study the 'dark secret' of the Mediterranean.
First of all the group had to take on the challenge of finding the mysterious dark layer called the Nicola bed. This layer marks the base of the Pleistocene that defines the base of Quaternary. Our international team included scientists from Poland (Dr. Violka Radmacher and Dr. Mateusz Mikolajczak), Italy (Prof. Antonio Caruso) and Canada (Prof. Martin Head). This field work was held in September 2023. All collected samples are stored at the Institute of Geological Sciences, Polish Academy of Sciences, Kraków Research Center.
