Section 12.
Education and popularization of geological sciences

The subject of the section 12 includes two technical sessions dealing with the following issues:
  1. Geological education at the level of secondary schools and universities
  2. Popularizing geology with textbooks, books, popular-scientific journals and televised programs
  3. “Routes of geological education” in promoting geological sciences
  4. Geological museums and lapidaries as centres of geological education
  5. Fairs of minerals and rocks as a mean of promoting geology in society
  6. Geological collecting - rocks, minerals, fossils, geology-related stamps, etc.
  7. Geological values of urban architecture
  8. A role of the “Day of the Earth” in popularizing geology
  9. Scientific contests related to geological problems
The following excursions have also been planned:
  1. Geological aspects of the Kraków architecture
  2. Exposition of the AGH-UST Geological Museum
  3. Historic mine of striped flint in Krzemionki Opatowskie; the Jurassic Park in Bałtów
  4. Geodiversity and traditions of mining of the Krzeszowice region
